Country Estate Larva

Authentic farm stay in Slavonia

In the foothills of UNESCO Global Geopark Papuk (a nature park in Western Slavonia, in Eastern Croatia), there is a small village Trenkovo. And there in Trenkovo is situated the authentic Slavonian country estate „Larva“ with its rural holiday farmhouse built in 1933. It will amaze you with its extraordinary beauty and the serenity of a small Slavonian farmhouse.

The country estate remains authentic, just as it was in times past. The concept of the farm holidays offers an experience of real farm life in the original farmhouse with authentic furniture and original cuisine with minimum technology (the refrigerator and a cooker).
A farm stay well preserved and rich in the charm and history of the Slavonia region. For everyone who wants to experience authentic Croatian countryside.

Hanging out with friends or family, doing sports activities, reading or sleeping on the grass under a fruit tree - that is called a relaxing holiday. You can join in the work on the farm or feed farm animals. After, you can enjoy local homemade specialities accompanied by cheerful Slavonian tamburitza music. Don't miss this charming farm stay.

Let us create tailor-made tours for you, and you will discover what makes the Slavonia region so special.

Požega Valley, also known as Golden Valley

This fertile valley has been important since antiquity. Its Roman name was Vallis Aurea, meaning "golden valley". The valley is formed by the Slavonian mountains of Požeška Gora, Psunj, Papuk, Krndija and Dilj. Thanks to its protected position, no other county in Slavonia has more sights preserved than Požega Valley. Archaeological sites, old towns, churches, fortresses, etc. all can be found in or around the Golden Valley.

UNESCO Geopark Papuk is absolutely the crown jewel of all-natural beauties in Western Slavonia. Because of the exceptional geological heritage of its mountains Papuk and Krndija the Papuk Geopark is among 120 official UNESCO Global Geoparks around the world. The Nature Park Papuk is only 20 km away from the Winery Sonttachi. You can spend a night there. We recommend the Mountain Lodge Jankovac, located in the protected park-forest Jankovac and close to the waterfall Skakavac (the highest waterfall in Slavonia). There are numerous educational, bicycle and mountaineering paths, several lookouts, an equestrian trail, and natural, cultural and historical attractions.

Recommended one-day trips:

  • Visiting the castle of Baron Trenk (Trenkov dvorac), only 500 m away from the property.
  • Fishing on the river Orljava, on fish farms or eco-ethno estates with their fish ponds.
  • Wine roads with numerous wine cellars in the Pozega Valley (also called “Golden Valley”), especially the internationally award-winning wines of the wine region Kutjevo.
  • Trip to Nature Park Papuk (UNESCO Global Geopark ) and its Mountain Lodge Jankovac, 30 minutes drive through the wood.
  • Trip to the old baroque city of Požega, just 8 km away. Požega itself is a monument of baroque architecture built in the Middle Ages.
  • Visiting medieval Fort Kaptol Old town, Jesuit Castle Kutjevo, Požega's Monument to the Plague (to commemorate Požega’s plague victims in 1749), …
  • Educational - hiking trail „Lapjak“ with posted detailed signs (the first one over hilly terrain in Slavonia); hiking trail „Šulerov put“.
