Nature Park Žumberak – Samobor Highlands - the mountain area of Žumberak and Samobor Highlands is one of the least inhabited areas in Croatia. The nature park is the hiking paradise and popular excursion spot. About 200 km of marked hiking trails and a large number of mountain huts with an authentic gastronomic offer.
Some of the marked trails:
A) “The Prince's Path” inclusive two different archaeological sites located in the Archaeological Park, the one from the ancient Iron Age in Budinjak and the other from the Roman period in Bratelj.
B) Educational trail "Okićnica", 2.5 km long, through ten instructive stories tells the story of the Old Town of Okić (411m) and its historical importance for this region.
C) The hiking trail to Japetić (879m) - the highest peak of the Samobor Highlands. The "Žitnica" mountain lodge is an only 1-hour walk from which you can enjoy a unique view of the peak St. Gera and Alps.
D) The hiking trail to Pleševica (580m) - the "Poljanice" mountain lodge with a children's playground, located in a thick coniferous forest, is only 45 minutes away.
Plešivica wine road - On the southeast side of the Samobor’s Highlands, near Zagreb, there is Plešivica with its highest peak Čerga (780 m) whose lookout offers a stunning view of the beautiful Plešivica’s vineyard amphitheatre. Paragliding - there are two registered flying terrains in the area. Starting point 1 is just below Mountain Lodge „Žitnica“ on the Japetić. The start is spacious and long so it is suitable for beginners. Starting point 2 is on the top of Plešivica.
The mine "Sveta Barbara" (Saint Barbara) is located in the village of Rude, 5 km southwest of Samobor and 12 km from Holiday Home Wixa. In the mine, visitors can visit centuries-old 350 m trenches. Nearby there is a 1.5 km long mining and botanical educational trail.
