HIKING & RAFTING TOUR | 4 days | 335€ | Sutjeska National Park hike and rafting along the Tara River Canyon, inclusive 2x B&B in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina.
This great adventure tour in the southeast of Bosnia is made for people who dislike mass tourism, boring guides, and beaten paths.
In the heart of Sutjeska National Park in the southeast of Bosnia, you will discover a pristine wilderness: ancient forest, mountain plateau at almost 1.700 metres, the highest Bosnian peaks, and glacier lakes. Those are just some highlights of this fascinating hiking trip on the 2nd day of the tour.
The next day is scheduled for a whitewater rafting. Surrounded by impressive river scenery, a whitewater rafting tour along the great Tara River Canyon is a unique experience. The canyon is the second largest in the world (the first is the Colorado River Canyon), and a part of Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The first or last day of this programme, depending on arrival/departure, there is a possibility for exploring Sarajevo on one of many interesting city tours with a knowledgeable and experienced local guide. Check out our city tour Discover Sarajevo.
Upon arrival in Sarajevo, transfer to the accommodation, with the possibility to do a city tour with the private guide or another leisure time activity, depending on the time of arrival. Accommodation: Bed & Breakfast. Optional offer: dinner in a Bosnian traditional restaurant.
After breakfast, we leave Sarajevo at 8:00 AM and take a transfer toward southeast Bosnia, in direction of the town of Foča. The whole day we will spend in the Sutjeska National Park. After two hours' drive, we will arrive at the 1.200 meter deep Sutjeska River canyon. Here is the starting point for this superb hiking tour. It takes you first to the Viewpoint Dragos Saddle (Dragoš Sedlo) and then deep in Perucica’s valley to the Skakavac waterfall. We will walk around the thick primaeval forest Perucica that hides many endemic and rare species. Our hiking tour continues to the Prijevor mountain plateau at 1.668 meters above sea level. It is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the National Park Sutjeska. A great place to take a picture of the mountains Maglic, Zelengora and Volujak which will tower around us. At the edge of the primaeval forest Perucica, we descend towards the Glacier Lake Trnovacko, which is set at 1.500 meters above sea level, surrounded by Bosnian impressive mountain peaks of Maglic, Bioč, and Volujak. Depending on the weather, there is a possibility of swimming in the lake (swimmers should be in good physical shape because of very cold water). The Lake Trnovacko is an ideal place for having lunch, relax and enjoy the serenity of the Bosnian mountains. After lunch we head back to our accommodation for dinner. Accommodation: Simple wooden bungalows (with bedding) next to the Tara River. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
After breakfast, we are going to explore the 1.300-meters deep Tara River Canyon, the second largest in the world, after the Colorado River Canyon. The Tara River is one of the four whitewater rivers in Bosnia and Herzegovina that offers professionally guided rafting tours. It ranks among Europe’s best whitewater rafting rivers in class II-IV. The last 18 kilometres of the river, before rivers Piva and Tara merge into a strong and mighty Drina River, is considered to be the most exciting part with more than 20 rapids. Our skippers are experienced rafting guides, certified by the International Rafting Federation. After rafting and enjoying a homemade lunch, we will be transferred back to Sarajevo. Return time around 7:00 PM. Accommodation: Bed & Breakfast. Meals: breakfast, lunch. Optional offer: dinner in a Bosnian traditional restaurant.
After breakfast, transfer to Sarajevo Airport.
