The multi activity week is based in a small family-run hotel on the banks of the Mreznica River in green environment with views of numerous rapids and waterfalls.

The itinerary includes kayaking and standup paddling (SUP) down the Mreznica River in Central Croatia, walking along forest paths and wooden bridges in Plitvice Lakes National Park, cycling past the villages and old mills on the banks of the Mreznica, and white-river rafting  on Una – Bosnian most beautiful river within the Una National Park on the border with Croatia. There is also plenty of time for swimming, picnicking or just lazing by the river.

The family multi activity tour includes also a free day to choose from several optional activities, such as beach trips and sightseeing in the coastal towns of Croatia.


Arrival in Zvecaj village, Central Croatia

Day 1 - Arrival in Zvecaj village, Central Croatia

We are leaving Zagreb or Rijeka airport, bus or train station and make our way to the small riverside village of Zvecaj, located on the River Mreznica, 70 km from Zagreb away. The peaceful village is an ideal base for our 8-day exploring tour through the surrounding area. After settling into your rooms, you can have a drink on the terrace overlooking the Mreznica River and its waterfalls, walk by the river or go for a swim. We will meet for dinner where our guides will give you a brief orientation regarding the tour itinerary. During the evening you have the opportunity to meet other tour participants. Accommodation: 3* hotel. Meals: dinner. Drive: 1h30min from the airport.

Walking in National Park Plitvice Lakes

Day 2 - Walking in National Park Plitvice Lakes

On our second day we will explore the most beautiful national park of Croatia - Plitvice Lakes which are listed in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List. Early in the morning, after breakfast, we start our ride through countryside roads towards Plitvice. The park is a spectacular natural phenomenon and ecologically sensitive hydro geological system of 16 turquoise lakes linked together with cascading falls and travertine pools carefully hidden among the pine and beech forests. Like in a fairyland. The walking trail will lead us next to the lakes and numerous waterfalls, along the forest paths and small wooden bridges. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in untouched nature. A panoramic boat will take us over Lake Kozjak, the biggest in the park, back to the park exit. Accommodation: 3* hotel. Meals: breakfast and dinner (picnic lunch on your own). Walking: 4-5 hours, easy. Drive: 1h45min each way.

Kayaking & SUP on the Mreznica River

Day 3 - Kayaking & SUP on the Mreznica River

After breakfast, we start our day by kayaking along the Mreznica River. The expedition starts in front of the hotel using two-person sit-on-top kayaks or open canoes which are easy and safe to navigate. After a short introduction to paddling, we push off upstream for a relaxing afternoon fun on the clear and emerald green waters of the Mreznica River with its 93 gushing waterfalls. After a picnic lunch, we'll paddle back to the hotel. In the afternoon we will change our kayaks with stand up paddle boards (SUP). The Mrežnica River is one of the greatest SUP spots in Inland Croatia. We can fill our adventure with swimming and jumping off the waterfalls. Our kayaking & SUP day trip ends with a dinner on the restaurant terrace. Accommodation: 3* hotel. Meals: breakfast and dinner (picnic lunch on your own). Activity: kayaking: class I-II, 2-3 hours, easy/moderate; Stand up paddle boarding (SUP), 2 hours, easy/moderate.

Cycling in the area of the Mreznica River

Day 4 - Cycling in the area of the Mreznica River

After breakfast we are going to discover beautiful Croatian countryside on a bike, along country roads with limited or no traffic. There are many trails in the Mreznica area well-adapted for cycling tours. We will start from our accommodation and continue through traditional villages, family farms and across colourful landscapes. There are some nice places for breaks looking out over the valleys and fields. You will have the opportunity for swimming in the Mrežnica River and having a picnic lunch on the river. Those who will not get enough from the area after our cycling tour, can continue with exploring some other places of interests on their own, with directions given by our guide. Accommodation: 3* hotel. Meals: breakfast and dinner (packed lunch on your own). Cycling: 3 hours. Terrain: easy/moderate, rolling hills.

Free day

Day 5 - Free day

For participants who chose a 5-day tour, this is the end of the holiday. After breakfast you are welcome to schedule your homeward transport for any time. The rest of the group continues their adventure. The motto for the fifth day of the tour is "free and easy", offering the participants a chance to have a choice of being active or just relax by the river in front of their accommodation. Some of options: cycling tour on your own, walking, swimming, playing beach volleyball, hiking in national parks, river canoeing, excursions to towns of interest in surrounding area, including beach trips and sightseeing. Accommodation: 3* hotel. Meals: breakfast and dinner (lunch on your own). Drive: maximum 2h each way.

Una River Rafting

Day 6 - Una River Rafting

Today we will cross the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our rafting day-trip on the Bosnian most beautiful river will be great experience. The Una River forms a natural border between Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. It is a part of the Una National Park, situated in the north-western part of Bosnia, across from the NP Plitvice Lakes. The emerald green water and waterfalls of the Una River and a landscape of dense forests around it offers delightful scenery. The Una is rich in water even in summer so rafting is possible all year round. There are several sections to choose from, and our guides will select the one that is best adapted to group abilities and current water levels. In months when water levels are lower (July, August, September) additional Mreznica kayaking trip will be proposed as a substitute to avoid long driving time. After rafting we'll return to Zvecaj Village. Accommodation: 3* hotel. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rafting: class I-IV, 2-3 hours, easy/moderate. Drive: 2h30min each way.

Kayaking in Upper Mreznica River Canyon

Day 7 - Kayaking in Upper Mreznica River Canyon

Today await us a truly adventure - kayaking through the Upper Mreznica Canyon. We will start our expedition from the place which is approx. 45 minutes away from our hotel. This part of the river is the most beautiful for kayking tour. Our route takes us through a narrow and deep gorge, past high cliffs, lush vegetation and cascading waterfalls to the freshwater spring. We continue our expedition to the second highest waterfall on the Mreznica (8m), which is an ideal place for swimming and a lunch break. After a break, we'll return to the hotel in the late afternoon. Accommodation: 3* hotel. Meals: breakfast and dinner (picnic lunch on your own). Kayaking: class II-III, moderate, 4 - 5 hours. Drive: 45 min each way. Please note that in case of very low water levels, the trip can only be done downstream - in that case the duration of kayaking is 2-3 hours. In case of high water levels, we use rafting boats (2 hours of rafting).

Departure from Zvecaj Village

Day 8 - Departure from Zvecaj Village

After breakfast, transfer to Zagreb or Rijeka airport and flight home. You are welcome to schedule your homeward transfer for any time. Meals: breakfast. Drive: 1h30min to the airport.

Optional excursions can be booked on the spot and are dependable on suitable weather conditions. The price is payable on site. 

This itinerary includes a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Please contact the appropriate government office or Bosnian embassy or consulate to confirm whether you need a visa. If you need a visa for EU, you will require a double entry visa.

  1. Plitvice Lakes National Park - a misty natural wonderland. Plitvice is one of the oldest national parks in Southeast Europe and the largest in Croatia. The national park was founded in 1949. In 1979 Plitvice Lakes were listed on UNESCO's list of world natural heritage sites because of its exquisite series of 16 emerald green and opal blue travertine lakes, more than 90 waterfalls and numerous caves. The lakes are surrounded by beech and pine forests and are home to extensive wildlife. It is one of themost beautiful natural sights in Europe.
  2. Mrežnica River in the Croatian heartland is popular among nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts because of its large number of waterfalls, totalling 93. This crystal clean river with rich flora and fauna, is ideal for swimming, kayaking through beautiful canyons, natural jacuzzi in waterfalls and walking over to small river islands. It offers also plenty of stops for 'jumping' and making photos.
  3. Una National Park is one of the three national parks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The park is located in the north-western part of Bosnia along the Bosnian-Croatian border, south of the city Bihać. It was established in 2008 around the Upper Una River and the Unac River. Only 40 km from NP Una is the famous Croatian NP Plitvice Lakes. The waterfalls and white water rapids of Una River  are the highlights of the park. The most famous waterfalls are the great Strabacki Buk with its 8 metres and tiny one at Martin Brod, where the popular "International Una Regatta" kayaking competition begins. Throughout the park, visitors can enjoy prime conditions for rafting, fishing, cycling and hiking. Area of the park has rich cultural-historic heritage and numerous archaeological sites, many dating from the prehistoric period. Significant historical and cultural heritage of the area within the park zone are the Roman fort Milančeva Kula, Rmanj Monastery in Martin Brod, medieval fortress Ostrovica above Kulen Vakuf and Ottoman fortress Havala.
