Hiking / Cycling in Medvednica Nature Park - more than 70 marked hiking trails, eight cycling loop trails, one connecting transverse route, and ten well-equipped and thematically diverse educational trails.

If you like to experience Medvednica Mountain and its highest peak Sljeme properly, you should to expect at least 6 to 7 hours of hiking. Medvednica is a great spot for daily walks. Some of the 70 marked trails are easy, and some are moderate. The hiking duration depends on, which trail you choose, approximately 2 - 4 hours.

Medvedgrad Hiking Trail - the highlight of Medvednica Mountain is, of course, Medvedgrad, a medieval fortified town above Zagreb built on a hill 593 meters above sea level in the 13th century, providing a spectacular view of the capital city. Visit time: from 11.00 to 19.00, every day except Monday.

Sljeme Cable Car - the people of Zagreb and its tourists can enjoy the beauty of the Medvednica Mountain and its peak Sljeme by riding the new Sljeme Cable Car that will take them to the top in about 15 minutes at a speed of about 20 kilometres per hour. The 84 gondolas can accommodate ten passengers each. The upper station Sljeme at 1,030 meters above sea level, is 1 km from the Aparthotel Snow Queen (18 minutes walk). Open hours: Saturday-Sunday 8.00 – 17.30; work days 8.00 – 16.30. One-Way-Ticket prices per person: adults 9,95 € / youth (15-24 years) & elderly people (over 64 years old) 6,64 € / children (up to 14 years) & persons with disabilities 2,65 € | Return ticket prices per person: adults 16,59 € / youth (15-24 years) & elderly people (over 64 years old) 9,95 € / children (up to 14 years) & persons with disabilities 3,98 €.

Zrinski Mine (4.3 km) - not far from the Mountain lodge Grafičar, there is an area called Miner’s Garden, where people used to mine in search of precious metals. The Zrinski Mine started to operate in the 16th century. It was registered as the protected cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia in 2006. It is not possible to visit the mine without a guide licensed by the Medvednica Nature Park. The guide is included in the ticket price. Visit time: Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10.00 to 16.00. Ticket prices per person: adults 3,32 € / children 2.65 € / family ticket (2 adults with max. 3 children) 6,64 €. The temperature in the Zrinski Mine is around 12°C all year round, so it is necessary to bring sufficiently warm, layered clothes and sports shoes even in the warmer part of the year. Helmets are provided for all visitors. It is not recommended to enter underground spaces for people with claustrophobia. The visit to the mine lasts about 30 minutes. Important notice: in case of bad weather, it is not possible to visit the Mine.

Medvedgrad Fortress (8.5 km) - a medieval fortified town above Zagreb built on a hill 593 meters above sea level in the 13th century, providing a spectacular view of the capital city. Sleepy Medvedgrad comes to life every year on the last weekend in September during the Medvedgrad Medieval Days. Its walls get occupied by the Black Queen and her retinue, noble knights and foolish court jesters. Visitors can enjoy a tournament and the medieval fair. Visit time during the year: from 9.00 to 16.00, every day except Monday. Ticket prices per person Saturday-Sunday: adults 7,96 € / children 3,98 € / family ticket (2 adults with max. 3 children) 17,25 €. Ticket prices per person Tuesday-Friday: adults 6,64 € / children 3,32 € / family ticket (2 adults with max. 3 children) 13,27 €.

Veternica Cave (21 km) is one of the longest caves in Croatia, with over 7 km of discovered channels. The first habitants were Neanderthals who lived here 45 thousand years ago. Accompanied by an expert guide, tourists can explore the first 380 meters of the cave. Visit time: Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10:00 to 16:00h. Ticket prices per person: aadults 5,31 € / children 2,65 € / family ticket (2 adults with max. 3 children) 13,27 €. The cave cannot be visited without a guide certified by the Medvednica Nature Park. Professional guidance is included in the ticket price. Important notice: in case of bad weather, it is not possible to visit the cave.

Biking trails – they are marked from 1 to 9 and laid out to have contact points to allow crossing from one trail to another, combining a tour that suits you the most. All trails are circular, described and marked in one direction, so we don’t recommend driving in the opposite direction, because you will not be able to see the signs and will have difficulties in orientation.

Educational trail „500 Horvat’s stairs“ (500 Horvatovih stuba) - these 500 stone stairs are the most impressive and most beautiful site in Medvednica Mountain, built by the human hand. Vladimir Horvat was a journalist, publisher, restless photo-reporter and a great lover of Medvednica. In 1946 he began to build a stone staircase on wild inaccessible karst above the stream Bistri Jarek. After seven years of hard work, he unveiled this hidden corner of extraordinary beauty to visitors. At the bottom of the stairs, near the stream, there is a small resting area called 'Srnec', with wooden benches and a shelter, where you can take a break.

Ski resort Sljeme on the top of the Medvednica Mountain, where the Weltcup ski race Snow Queen is held. Zagreb is the only European capital with a ski resort!
