Romantic stone country house with pool in a secluded place in the heart of the Istria peninsula. Beautifully renovated Country house Our Istria offers authentic accommodation for 4-5 persons in a perfect location: close to the town of Buzet (famous for truffles), only 30 min drive to the Adriatic coast, and ideal for daily trips to Italy and Slovenia.
This authentic rural house for rent was originally built in 1886. It has been recently redecorated sensitively to the needs of recent times. Today it offers luxurious and comfortable holidays inside the nature of Green Istria.
During the renovation, there was one guiding principle above all: the guests should feel the property as their small paradise. Only exclusively natural and ecology-friendly materials were used. There are wood floors throughout the house except in the kitchen and the bathroom. The walls are mortared in an old-fashioned way. Thick stone walls and air conditioning will assure freshness in the whole house, even on the hottest summer days.
There is a large terrace in front of the house and a swimming pool surrounded by green lawns, an orchard and a forest.
Near the holiday home, you have a wide choice of sports: trekking, free climbing, paragliding, and speleology. You can discover mountain bike routes, walking paths, olive oil trails, and wine routes.
All these possibilities are available within a few kilometres of the house.
Country house Our Istria is a dream home for relaxed holidays whose homeowners support and promote sustainable ecological development in their region.

Trip to the old village Kotli - only 5.8 km from the Country House Our Istria. The Mirna Rver flows through the village, forming waterfalls and hollowing cauldron-like forms in stone that gave the village its name Kotli (Croatian kotao = cauldron). With well-known millers and tailors, Kotli was the leading economic village of the Hum area in the past. The water mill, preserved to this day, is a tourist attraction. Today Kotli is a protected rural complex with preserved courtyards, outer staircases, arched passages and picturesque chimneys. In the village is a small restaurant Konoba Kotlić with traditional Istrian cuisine.
Buzet (8 km from House Our Istria) is widely known as The City of Truffles. It lies on a hilltop above a fertile valley of the longest Istrian river – the Mirna, near the Slovenian border and 14 km northwest of Hum. The forests along the Mirna River are especially rich in truffles. You shouldn't miss the Truffle Days in September and October each year. On the second weekend in September, an important traditional folk festivity also takes place in Buzet with an attraction – a giant omelette (commonly known as fritada or fritaja) with over 2.000 eggs and 10 kilograms of truffles is prepared in a big pan. This event officially marks the beginning of Truffle Days in Istria.
Motovun (27 km from House Our Istria) is the most famous town in Inland Istria. This fascinating historic town on the hilltop is one of the characteristic symbols of the Istrian Inland and a movieoasis. The International Motovun Film Festival takes place at the end of July. The Romanesque-Gothic bell tower from the 13th century, standing next to the Parish Church of St. Stephen from the 17th century, dominates the historic core of Motovun. The town is also attractive for ballooning lovers. Its favourable microclimate enables flying in balloons all year round. Because of its unique position, it is also a mecca for paragliders. Watching this colourful scenery in the sky while you have lunch on the terrace is an exciting experience. You can also get fantastic views of the countryside from the city walls. Motovun Forest, which stretches along the Mirna River valley, is especially rich in truffles, the underground malodorous fungus believed to be an aphrodisiac.
Učka Nature Park offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience to watch griffon vultures or golden eagles. It is also exciting to take a picture of the endemic Croatian bellflower, which can be found only on Mt Učka. In the Nature Park, you can also taste local dishes made of chestnuts, asparagus and other specialities of the healthy traditional cuisine. Učka Nature Park includes two educational trails: 1. „The Plas“, which passes over the top ridge of Mount Učka and 2. „The Vela draga“, a 2-km-long route. There is also the hiking path „Slap“.
