The 98-meters-high waterfall is located in the southwest part of Ozren Mountain in the landscape of extraordinary beauty, 1.532 meters above sea level. The trail leads through a beautiful natural environment, over seven small streams and wooden bridges. And the view from the top is breathtaking!

Meeting point for the day-trip to Skakavac Waterfall is the north part of Sarajevo called „Koševo“, near the building of the Government of Bosnia-Herzegovina. From here we’ll take a 30 minutes drive by bus to the village of Nahorevo and entrance to the natural monument "Skakavac".
From the foothills below Seven Sources we’ll begin a medium-difficulty hike (about 6 km) along a mountain road to the top of the waterfall. From here on the edge of a cliff at 1.136m you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Waterfall Skakavac from above (the name „skakavac“ means grasshopper in Bosnian) and the magnificent scenery of surrounding area. With its height of 98 meters, Skakavac is the largest continually flowing waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Here we will have a relaxing break with some tea or coffee before we continue our hike downhill.
After break it goes down in serpentines to the bottom of the waterfall. The trail, which is 850 metres long, leads through thick beech forests and the terrain is little bit harder but the track is well-set and arranged so that the descent is safe. At the bottom of the waterfall you will fully enjoy the majesty of the waterfall and it is going to make you feel it was worth it.
As we begin our journey back, we wind our way back through the forest to the village. This moderately cool hike is a nice refreshing break from the hot summer months. We continue our hike through the shade in the pine and beech forests. The area is full of beautiful waterfalls, views of Sarajevo and its surrounding mountains. A truly amazing place in a nature so close to Sarajevo. Return to Sarajevo City Center around 5:00 PM.
