The Mreznica River in the Croatian heartland is popular among nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts because of its 93 waterfalls! This crystal clean river in Central Croatia, with rich flora and fauna, is ideal for swimming, kayaking or rafting through beautiful canyons, natural jacuzzi in waterfalls and walking over to small river islands. It offers also plenty of stops for 'jumping'.
Its source is near town of Slunj. It flows into the Korana River near Karlovac City.
The most exciting on the Mreznica River is its canyon with steep cliffs and 8 meter high "Milkovic" waterfall which simply takes your breath away. This is the second highest waterfall on the Mreznica and the only waterfall that cannot be passed with raft, but it requires a short walk. The emerald green colour of the river changes from lake to lake due to specific sources (springs).
There are three rafting sections on the river (you can also combine in a multi-day active holiday package):
The best time for rafting on Mreznica is in spring and fall when the river has the highest water level. In summer the river is most ideal for kayaking / canoeing.
*NOTE: the kayaking boats will be used in case of lower water level.
River Mreznica is known as one of the "four rivers of Karlovac City". Although it is significantly shorter than rivers Dobra, Korana and Kupa, Mreznica deserves a special place among them because of its 93 waterfalls!
