Excursion destination Vranjevina - only 4 km from Daruvar (1h walking from the centre), at 291 m above sea level, located on the west side of the Papuk Nature Park and near the mountain lodge Petrov Vrh. The way is going through the vineyards. Because of its geodiversity, Vranjevina is classified as an important geomorphological site. The excursion site is a longitudinal terrace surrounded by forests of beech, hornbeam and oak, with the source of the so-called “Sveta Voda” (which means "holy water"). Springwater is carried to the edge of a steep cliff creating a 20-meter-high waterfall (there are stairs leading to it with a protective fence). Also beside the source is the resting place with tables, benches, and outdoor grills. Both relief terraces offer a great view of the picturesque landscape, fertile fields, villages and forests.
Daruvar Wine Route - Vineyard farming in Daruvar surroundings has a centuries-old tradition and a rich history. The sunny slopes of the mountainside of Papuk provide ideal conditions for grape growing and winemaking. Therefore Daruvar is known for its excellent varieties of grapes and quality wines. The Daruvar wine road connects seven different points located in Daruvar vineyards or on ethno estates providing wine tastings of Daruvar's best wines and rural homemade products. The wine route can be tailor-made.
The Castle of count Jankovich is located in the very centre of town. It is a protected cultural monument of first class. The crucial moment in Daruvar's development was the arrival of Count Antun Jankovich in 1745. Queen Maria Theresa granted Count Jankovich the title 'de Daruvar' on 28th February 1765. From 1771 to 1777, Antun Jankovich built a baroque castle with a park in the shape of the letter U. The German explorer, traveller, and writer Taube listed Castle Jankovich as one of the most beautiful buildings in the kingdom. The central place in the central wing is the main salon, which serves as a concert hall for classical music concerts.
Sportfishing in Daruvar and the surrounding area is possible on the four fishponds: Jezero, Ciglana in the municipality of Đulovac, Izvor in Maslenjača, and Crnaja in the Končanica. They are all abundant with capital specimens of carp and amur. In the Toplica River, which passes through the town of Daruvar, and in rivers Bijela and Pakra in the municipality of Sirač, the dominant fish is trout. The fishpond Končanica, with its five small islands, has a surface of 27 ha. It is one of the favourite destinations for fishermen. The carp make up 85% of the total number of fish: grass carp, pike, silver carp and bighead carp. Because of the many different bird species living there, the fishpond has an ornithology value. The location is also a resting place. There are a catering facility, rotisseries and a wooden arbour with benches. You can buy daily and annual fishing permits for all fishponds.
